Here is some basic information:
Proper acclimation is very important that is why do not mix them with other fish
once you receive discus. Open the shipping boxes as soon as you get them. Fish
that is just arrived did not see the light for at least 12 hours, so in order for you to
avoid unnecessary stress try to open the box in the less lighted area. Then
carefully open the bags place the fish into the 5 to 10 gallon aquarium with air
stone, cut the bags carefully and transfer the fish . While the water is dripping(2 to
3 drops per second) from your tank into the small provided tank, check the ph and
the temperature -/+ 2, 3 degree is normally acceptable. It should take about 10 to
15 minutes for the whole process. Discus usually become very shy and little dark;
they also tend to hide , don't worry it is normal for them. It usually takes 2 to 5 days
for them to swim freely and develop normal colors. Angels on the other hand will
not change the colors nor they will hide. They might swim in one area until they get
comfortable with their surroundings.

It is preferred for discus to keep temperature anywhere from 82 to 86 , ph 5.5 to
7.0, gh 200 to 340 ppm, dch 1 to 3 with frequent water changes, as frequent as
possible . For young ones it is better to have water changes up to 5 times a week,
this will keep them happy and healthy. Change about 30 to 70 % until they get 3 to
4 inches. It is important because the water change takes away all the toxins,
nitrates and uneaten food which brings ammonia high. When they reach 3 to
3.5,,or can slow it down by 1 to 2 times a week up to 80 % with water conditioners
added.
Angels prefer 78 to 82 , ph 5.9 to 6.8. with good amount of oxygen with not that
many water changes maybe once or twice in ten days; it all depends on the
aquarium size and filtering system you use.
